Pawsture

ETHICS & GUIDELINES

At Pawsture, journalism is an act of care.

We are grounded in our Guiding Principles, and every story we publish reflects that foundation. We don’t chase clicks or compromise on values. We chase truth, depth, and dignity. We do this for the animals and for the people who care for them.

Here’s how that commitment shows up in our work:

We Are Independent

Pawsture’s editorial decisions are made independently. The articles we write is free from influence from advertisers, donors, sponsors, or grant-giving organizations. If we do publish sponsored content or native advertising, we’ll label it clearly and transparently at the top of the article.

We Are Guided by Principles

Everything we publish reflects Pawsture’s core values: truth-telling, advocacy for animal welfare, and responsible pet care. And we aim to amplify the voices doing the work, not just those making the noise.

These are our guiding principles:

Advocacy for Animal Welfare
We are uncompromising in our stance against cruelty, neglect, and exploitation. We champion native Filipino breeds like puspins and aspins. And we advocate for TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) not just as a policy, but as a promise: that humane solutions are possible, and necessary.

Informed & Insightful Journalism
We don’t chase clicks. We chase clarity. Every piece we publish is grounded in truth, sharpened by analysis, and open to complexity. We believe animal welfare deserves better than oversimplified headlines, and it deserves a deeper look.

Amplifying Community Voices
Behind every rescue, there’s a person: a rescuer, a feeder, a foster parent, often unpaid and unseen. We center their stories. Their grit. Their grief. Their hope. Because these are the people quietly reshaping our relationship with animals, one act of care at a time.

Modern & Engaging Content
Our audience is the modern Filipino pet owner—curious, compassionate, and connected. We speak in a voice that is smart but never snobbish, informed but always human. We explore not just how to care for pets, but how to live with them—ethically, joyfully, and with intention.

Community & Connection
Pawsture is more than a publication. It’s a gathering place for people who believe animals matter. We offer stories, tools, and solidarity—for the sleepless fosterer, the overwhelmed feeder, the policymaker seeking better laws. We’re here to connect, not just inform.

We Verify and Attribute

We expect every contributor to ground their work in accurate, well-sourced information. That means attributing quotes, citing data, and verifying claims before submission. We don’t publish hearsay or unsubstantiated accusations.

We Edit Collaboratively

Every piece is edited with care, in collaboration with the writer. We’ll help sharpen your argument, clarify your structure, and ensure that the final version reflects both your voice and our editorial standards. Our goal is to publish work that is responsible, well-reasoned, and impactful.

We Do Not Publish Attacks

We do not accept writing that targets individuals, bashes companies or organizations, or promotes hostility. Critique is welcome—when it’s fact-based, constructive, and clearly contextualized. Our aim is to hold systems accountable, not to provoke outrage.

Corrections & Transparency

When we make a mistake, we own it. Pawsture is committed to issuing corrections promptly and transparently. We believe trust is built not by being perfect, but by being accountable.

How We Make Money

As of writing (August 2025), Pawsture does not yet generate revenue. We are a small, independent publication in our early stages. We are fueled by passion, community, and a shared belief that animal welfare journalism deserves a credible platform.

But we also believe in building something sustainable.

Our long-term goal is to fund Pawsture through a blend of advertising, grants, and membership contributions. That means working with ethical partners who share our values, applying for grants that support public-interest reporting, and offering a membership model for readers who want to support our work directly.

Editorial independence doesn’t mean refusing ads. It means refusing influence. Advertisers will never shape our stories or steer our coverage. Business decisions and editorial choices remain strictly separate.

If and when we publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labeled. We won’t blur the line between journalism and advertising. We believe trust is earned through transparency. And we intend to earn yours, every step of the way.

Help Us Stay True

We’re a small but growing publication. If you notice something inaccurate, unclear, or out of step with our values, please let us know at heymeow@pawsture.ph.

We want Pawsture to become a shared space for people who believe in the dignity of animals, and the power of storytelling to shape a kinder world.
